Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences (Igids) is a Constituent College Of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Sbv), Puducherry. Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University’s broad and diverse academic activity combines all the best in health-related studies, for the benefit of the community. The university is conferred A Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The dental college is also a UGC approved institution. The dental college has been passionately engaged in dental education, providing an opportunity for the comprehensive learning of the various modules, thus preparing the future dentists.

It is a private dental college administered by the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University (trust). Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences (IGIDS), is an on-campus constituent college of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pondicherry.

It was established in the year 2006-07 at Pondy -Cuddalore Main Road, Pillayarkuppam, Pondicherry.

The college is attached to Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute. The college is affiliated to prestigious Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry and recognised by the Dental Council of India.

Located in the sprawling Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital campus of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, the Dental College is beautifully constructed in 6 acres of area with futuristic infrastructures with a total student enrolment of around 296 students. The total constructed area is about 45,500 sq. Ft.  It is a premier dental institution with the state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly qualified and experienced faculty and doctors delivering quality education and best oral health care for the entire population of Pondicherry. The hospital has a well experienced set of faculty to provide excellent academic and clinical excellence. The college also encourages research and innovations. Research is an integral part of the mission of Indira Gandhi Institute of dental sciences. They also help the faculty and staff in patent procedures. The college has good clinical facility of about 303 dental chairs to cater to the needs of the patients. The college has good hostel accommodation and food facilities for both the boys and girls. There is 100 seat capacity for boys and 100 capacity of accommodation for girls. The institute has good department based laboratory facility with all state-of-the-art equipments for the benefit of the Students College has a good set up of library for the benefit of the students.

Separate hostels for boys and girls are thoroughly modern and air conditioned, offering single and twin sharing accommodation. AC rooms are also available. Hygienic high-quality balanced food is provided to the students. Full-fledged and airy gymnasium cum physical fitness center is available attached to the hostel for all the students.  Th AC rooms are also available. There is 100 seat capacity for boys and 100 capacity of accommodation for girls. There are attached toilets with 24 hour supply of hot and cold water.

The library fulfils the entire standard laid down by the Dental Council of India. Large volumes of books from the basic life sciences to the clinical and non-clinical dental subjects are made available to the students and the staff.  This is for the assistance and easy access for the students. it has photostat machine room, bookbinding room ,a reading room drafters room microfilm processing with audio visual facilities are also made available for the advantage  of students. The library also offers the use of Computers along with Internet services.  The students can easily access worldwide medical database, with access to pub med and medical/dental journals of national and international repute.

Institute has well equipped sports facilities for the students. A modern gymnasium and health club with latest health equipment and facilities for indoor & outdoor games is available for students.
