Chhattisgarh which means “thirty six forts” is a state located in the region of Central India. This state was formed by the partition of ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi-speaking districts in the southeast of Madhya Pradesh. Raipur is the capital city of the state of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is a heavily forested state in Central India known for its temples and waterfalls. Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest-developing states in India. The State of Chhattisgarh is known as the rice bowl of India and has a rich tradition of food culture.

The college is situated in the Raipur in Chhattisgarh state. It was established in the year 2003-04 Near Marhi Mata Mandir, Rajbandha Maidan, Raipur, chhattisgarh.

It is a government dental college. It is the only Government Dental College in the entire Chhattisgarh state. The college is managed by State Govt. /UT Administration. The college is attached to Pt. J. N. M. Medical College, Raipur. The Government Dental College Raipur Chhattisgarh is one of the best dental colleges in Chhattisgarh and India.  It is affiliated to College of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur and recognised by the Dental Council of India.

The college is spread across a magnanimous area of total of 5 acres. The campus is one of the greenest one in the city. The college is spread across with lush green gardens and lawns with one of the kind rain water harvesting. The college is located at the centre of the city making it convenient to both the students and the patients. The college has special attention towards the dental health education program specially in remote villages of Chhattisgarh.

The college has excellent teaching facilities with beautiful Infrastructure and campus. Within a very short period of time GDC gained lot of importance with its service to humanity mainly through best dental education to its students and catering to the needs of the population in and around Chhattisgarh through efficient oral health care delivery. The college also supports research and innovation. The college also has excellent infrastructure with exceptional technology and equipments for the overall development of the skill and knowledge of the students.  The college also has a very strict anti-ragging committee in place for the welfare of the students.

The college has good clinical facility of about 291 dental chairs to cater to the necessity of the patients. The college rests on a strong and committed faculty, efficient administration, professional development, scholarships, research, and community service. The institute recognizes meritorious students and helps them in acquiring scholarships.

The college has good hostel accommodation and food facilities for both the boys and girls. The institute has a hostel facility of 134 accommodations for boys and 168 accommodations for girls. The institute has good department based laboratory facility with all state-of-the-art equipments for the benefit of the students. It has a rich library facility.  The college has excelled not only in academic activities by obtaining many university ranks but also have proved their mettle by taking part in curricular, Co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

FACILITIES

   Hostel

The college has hostel facility for both girls and boys which provide good hostel accommodation for the students. The institute has a hostel facility of 134 accommodations for boys and 168 accommodations for girls. Both the boys' and girls' hostels are located within the campus. Excellent accommodation is provided to the students. The hostels have their individual mess that provide hygienic food to its inmates. Indoor games and other recreational facilities are also provided within hostels. The college campus also  includes staff quarters accommodating the facility of the institution. The residential complex is backed up by well spacious parking area.

 Library

The library resources include good collection of prescribed textbooks, reference works like handbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedia and various other mode of study related to dental problems and its treatment. The library extends its facilities through separate reading section and also covers photocopying facility so that the students to increase their knowledge in a spacious set-up.

Institute has well equipped sports facilities for the students. The college encourages students to actively participate in sport activities.

Cafeteria

The college has a separate canteen/recreation block. Canteen facilities are good with healthy and clean food and ambience. A canteen is also available in the premises and serves all kinds of fast and packed food and snack.
