Faculty of Dentistry, Delhi is one of the popular dental colleges in Delhi, India. It is a government dental college administered by a university. It is a NAAC “A” grade accredited college. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Government of India placed JMI at 19th position in the ‘Overall Ranking’ in 2018. Also, JMI ranked between 801 and 1000 in Times Higher Education (THE) in 2017 global ranking and between 751-800 in 2019 QS World University Ranking in 2019.

It was established in the year 2009-10 at Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar Marg, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Nagar, Delhi. Jamia Millia Islamia was ideated as a national institution to provide progressive education and nationalist ideas to students coming from all communities across India, especially Muslims. Faculty of Dentistry - Jamia Milia Islamia is a constituent unit of Jamia Milia Islamia established to impart quality education in the field of Dentistry. The college is attached to ESI Hospital which is a government general hospital. The college was affiliated to Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi and recognised by the Dental Council of India.

The college is spread across a sprawling area of 223898 sq ft with a total student intake of around 204 students. It is a premier dental institution with the state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly qualified and experienced faculty and doctors delivering quality education and best oral health care for the entire population of Delhi. The hospital has a well experienced set of faculty to provide excellent academic and clinical excellence. The campus also has a 100-bedded medical hospital, which shall be made functional with a vision to provide world-class medical facilities under one roof.

The college has good clinical facility of about 106 dental chairs to cater to the needs of the patients. The college has good hostel accommodation and food facilities for both the boys and girls. The institute has a hostel facility of 1200 accommodations for boys and 850 accommodations for girls. The institute has good department based laboratory facility with all state-of-the-art equipments for the benefit of the Students College has a good set up of library for the benefit of the students.

FACILITIES

  Hostel

The college has good hostel accommodation and food facilities for both the boys and girls. The institute has a hostel facility of 1200 accommodations for boys and 850 accommodations for girls. The hostel has fully functional mess to provide for Breakfast, lunch, evening tea & snacks payable on monthly basis. The mess facility is compulsory for all students residing in the College hostel.

   Library

Fully equipped library for the benefit of the students. Its rich library is equipped with internet facilities for the use of its students and faculty. There are adequate books to cater to the needs of the students. it aims at providing an academic ambience of excellence to students and faculty members and has a rich collection of books and journals on various disciplines of Dentistry and Medical Sciences.

   Sports

Institute has well equipped sports facilities for the students. The college encourages students to actively participate in sport activities. The students can also avail the facility of playground and volleyball court next to the hostel and the Gymnasium and recreation centre in the College campus.

Cafeteria

The college has a separate canteen/recreation block. Canteen facilities are good with healthy and clean food and ambience.

Laboratory facility

The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students. The College has a provision of labs that include pre clinical prosthetics & Conservative labs for preclinical training of undergraduates. For histopathology pertaining to dentistry the department of Oral Pathology also has lab facility.
